Smart Light Technology

Lighting Control Systems

Centralize all the lights into one system that you can control from your tablet or smartphone.

Thomas Edison's Incandescent Bulb Was Revolutionary

The Incandescent Bulb was revolutionary for its time.

It has lit homes and offices for generations, but it has never been efficient on energy. By 2023, the manufacture of incandescent light bulbs for lighting homes will be effectively banned.

LED Lights are now the standard.

Technology has progressed even further with the advent of LED lights. LED lights use at least 75% less energy, and last up to 25 times longer, than incandescent lighting.

A few other major advantages of LED lighting is:

  • Light Source: LEDs are the size of a fleck of pepper, and can give light in a range of colors.
  • Direction: LEDs emit light in a specific direction, reducing the need for reflectors and diffusers that can trap light or produce heat.
  • Heat: LEDs emit very little heat. Incandescent bulbs release 90% of their energy as heat.
  • Lifetime: LED bulbs can last 30 times longer than an incandescent bulb.

With LED being the new standard,

You Now Have Smart Lights

What are Smart Lights?

In smart technology, the word “SMART” is an acronym that means “self-monitoring, analysis, and reporting technology.” Smart lighting technology allows the light fixtures in your home to increase their capabilities. At its simplest, smart lighting systems can be controlled remotely, via an app that you operate on your smartphone or computer or a remote designed to help with smart technologies.

Other options can use motion and light sensors that will automatically turn on and off, given the amount of detected light or the presence of people and movement in a room. This can help reduce wasted energy that comes with accidentally leaving lights on when you leave a room.

Advanced smart lighting systems that we often use can also incorporate machine learning. The lights automatically monitor and learn the lighting patterns of people who live in the home. This “learning” allows the lights to automatically turn on and off at certain times of the day, given your habits or preferences habits.

By Setting Up Lighting Automations You Are In Control

From entertainment to sleep cycles, you can improve your comfort and life.

Lighting is no longer just for you to be able to see.

Set the perfect scene -every time

Ideal Movie Viewing Experience
Make your family feel as though they are inside the movie as the whole room changes light colors in sync with the movie
Provide a Fun Environment for Guests
(Great lights may not make you better at karaoke...)
Add to the Romance
Use smart lighting controls to set the perfect mood for that bit of alone time.

Convenience

Smart lights let you illuminate your whole home simultaneously. Using voice activation with your virtual assistant allows you to simply speak lights on or off. Automatic schedules can match your lights with sunrise and sunset. Geofencing can automatically turn off your lights when you leave the house, and turn them on when you get home.

Energy Saving

By being able to automate and remotely control which lights are on and off, you are only using lights when and where they’re needed.

Increased controllability reduces energy use. If people in your house regularly forget to turn off lights, smart lighting will most likely lead to immediate savings.

Color Options

Chances are that you aren’t looking for party lights to be on all the time at your house, the ability to change colors in your lights comes with more subtle benefits.

The ability to shift lights from cooler to warmer whites can have an effect on how you work. Imagine being able to make a room a brighter white as you are working on something to help you see better.

Syncing Lights

Entertainment sync is one of the more advanced features in lighting control systems. These systems can monitor the video going to your TV and map the colors appearing around the edges can make for a more immersive experience as the lights change with what you are watching. If you’re watching an explosion in a  movie, that whole side of the room can light up in yellows and oranges. This creates a truly immersive experience.

Security

Sure, you can turn lights off and on no matter how far away you are, but real convenience is with a dedicated away mode. These routinely and randomly cycle lights off and on, so anyone watching would assume there is someone inside moving from room to room.

Many smart lights can also be activated by motion triggers as well to deter anyone trying to sneak in the back door.

Rest and Relaxation

Most of us regularly search for how to get a better night’s sleep. When it’s dark for a while, our brain tells us we’re tired. When the sun comes up and gets bright, our brain senses it and tells us it’s time to wake up.

Smart lights can help with sleep cycles by simulating a nice, slow sunrise to help ease you out of bed on an early morning. You can also dim and change to warmer colors to help you get ready for sleep.

The Right Light at the Right Place, at the Right Time

Light Harvesting With Lighting Controls

Light harvesting is the process of using daylight strategically to reduce the need for lighting systems. It reduces overall energy consumption by decreasing light usage and making use of natural light in a room. Daylight harvesting, which takes advantage of naturally available light, is a key energy-saving strategy for residential and commercial spaces. The principle is simple: the electric lights in a space can automatically be dimmed downed or turned off when enough natural light is entering the space.

Lighting Control Systems

Options For Any Location

Once installed, you can personalize your lights to turn on or off at certain times of the day, adjust them with the seasons, or have them automatically alternate while you’re out of town. You can set up automation such as when the door locks, the entry light turns on. Or you can set the outdoor lights to turn off at sunrise.

We can build your system to suit you perfectly.
